The Shangri-La Hotel | Santa Monica

Once in a great while, the hotel becomes the destination.

The Hotel

The Shangri-La in Santa Monica is a glamorous, architectural gem and has been since 1939.  After it’s multi-million dollar restoration it gleams with white exterior, Art Deco interior and it’s beach front setting. It is perfectly situated next to the weekly farmers market and permanent Pacific Ocean. It specializes in warm welcomes and spectacular views. These warm welcomes are never ending and the spectacular views can be seen from your bed, bath and both bars.. hows that for well rounded.

Wednesdays here are my favorite. Think morning farmer’s markets and an evening wine hour. The local farmer’s market takes place on the side street of Shangri-La making it the perfect place to grab breakfast before hitting the beach or streets. And the complimentary wine and cheese hours every Wednesday evening is the perfect place to rewined.

The on property restaurant features only the freshest ingredients which they pick up from the local farmers market, making it the perfect place to grab dinner.

The Pool

The hotel has a charming courtyard with a pool, hot tub and cabanas. The black and white striped loungers paired with hot pink towels and tables was so L.A. After a day in the sun, Xanadu Spa is the perfect place to go. It is unlike any other spa, it’s on the roof overlooking the ocean. Each service is handcrafted and feature only natural and organic ingredients

The Rooftop

After a long day of sightseeing, we headed straight to the rooftop lounge and sipped on our favorite cocktails while gazing at the waves and watching the sun set over the ocean.

The Room

In room 312, the windows stayed open and the room was filled with the smell of the ocean. We never bothered to shut them even while we slept under the cozy duvet. The view was spectacular and you could even sneak a peek at the Santa Monica Pier through the palm trees.

The bathroom was my favorite aspect of the room. Between the L’Occitane products, marble jacuzzi tub and the view from inside of it, I was smitten.

Thank you Shangri-La Hotel for partnering with this post
