Stepping off the fashionable Madison Ave. and into The Library Hotel I found myself feeling immediately at ease and ready to unwind. The Library Hotel is a cozy 60 room boutique hotel that has an essence about it unlike any hotel in New York City. Each floor honors one of the 10 categories of the Dewey Decimal System and each room is uniquely adorned with a collection of books and art exploring the topic within the category it belongs to. For example, my stay was on floor 7 which was The Arts, so my room had books filled with architecture, music, photography.. and my favorite, fashion! Next time I think I will try to stay on floor 8 so I can immerse myself in my favorite things to read, fairy tales!
The Library Hotel is steps away from Grand Central Station and The New York Public Library. I loved stepping outside of the hotel and looking to my left and seeing a picturesque view of the Public Library nestled in Bryant Park.
For dinner I was torn between calling in room service and dining out. So right when I was ready to embrace the freezing temperatures, I looked to my right and was delighted to see the best of both worlds, Madison & Vine. Madison & Vine is the Hotel’s American bistro and international wine bar located on the ground floor. I ordered the wild trout and truffle fries and it was amazing!
The evenings were my favorite, however. After curling up with a book and drinking a perfect red at the wine and cheese reception from 5pm-8 I found myself back in the elevator headed towards the cozy rooftop lounge, Bookmarks. Bookmarks has an intimate feel during the night, the wrap around terrace is decorated with twinkly lights that are just dimmed enough so that you can still see the real twinkly lights up above. Unfortunately, it was way too cold to stay outside, so I nestled in a velvet chair by the fireplace and ordered an amazing drink that I would recommend to everyone, The Pulitzer. Every signature drink here is literary inspired and are truly delicious in their own way.
