Morocco or Times Square? That is the question that popped in my head as I stepped out of the loud and bright Times Square and in to the oasis of Casablanca Hotel. I was greeted so warmly by the front desk and shown to my room. I immediately went downstairs to Rick’s Cafe and took full advantage of their 5-8pm wine and cheese reception. After 2.. or 3 glasses of wine next to the roaring fireplace I grabbed my favorite movie (sex and the city) from the front desk and enjoyed a quiet night in, while the rest of New York stayed busy a few steps away.
The Casablanca Hotel was inspired by the romance of the movie, “Casablanca”, and was a triple winner of TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards. It is also the closest hotel to the legendary New Year’s Eve Ball Drop so if you are headed into the city during the new year this is the hotel to be at. You can enjoy a delicious meal at Tony’s Di Napoli, the Italian restaurant connected to the hotel. After dinner drinks, music and dancing can be discovered in Rick’s Cafe, then head to the roof to count down the last few seconds until the new year, while watching the ball drop!
