A Weekend in Nice, France

As soon as I stepped outside of the Nice train station I was smitten. Nice is the unofficial capital of the Côte d’Azur, and if you really want to soak up the Riviera vibe, there’s really no better place to do it. I was immediately captivated by the light, enchanted by the scents and charmed by the rosé and fruits. Michael and I found ourselves talking about the future and buying a villa here to spend vacations. We were falling in love with eachother.. and the French Riviera.

Eat

Seaside Lunch // Beau Rivage Restaurant // we ate here with friends who were staying in Nice as well. Michael and I split the chicken burger with fries and then split the huge fruit plate with the table. It was the best meal I had in Nice by far with an even better view!

Homemade // Terre et Mer // this port side restaurant is a great place to relax and grab a bite to eat after hiking. Sit outside for a great view of the mega yachts cruising by.

Seafood // Le Café de Turin // a great place for a lavish seafood platter or local specialities like aoli and bouillabaisse.

Pizza and Wine // L’Ecurie // Michael and I ate and drank here for under 20 euros! We ordered the best pepperoni pizza I have ever tasted and a delicious bottle of house wine and we were stuffed!

Crepes //Antonia Cafe // get a delicious crepe topped with artisan ice cream.. we ate this for breakfast many times.. because vacation, right?!

Ice cream // Fenochio // by far the best place to grab something sweet. My favorite was the passion fruit but there is so many unique flavors to decide on such as cactus, rose, avocado, mandarine, melon, orange blossom, poppy, jasmin and guava

Experience // local grocery store // stay at an airbnb with a kitchen and head to the local market and pick up some ingredients and make your own dinner.

Drink

Chic // Le Before // with it’s chrome and wood decor this bar is perfect for a laid back drink in your best outfit.

Unique // Les Distilleries Idéales // this artistic Old Town spot is perfect for lively apéritif in a busy and bouncy atmosphere. Try the pint of peche and get here early for a spot on the terrace.

Rowdy // Wayne’s // if you’re looking to party, this is the place for it. It’s a fun crowd of English-speakers, travelers and French university students. Things can get a bit wild and sweaty dancing on the tables, but the music is fun and it’s a great place to let loose.

Do

Parc du Château//  panoramic views and waterfalls// this is by far the best way to see Nice. It’s a heck of a climb but with caves, restaurants and waterfalls along the way it makes getting to the top a little easier.

Cours Saleya// open-air market//Every morning from Tuesday to Sunday, this market overflows with fresh produce, cheeses, olives, herbs, flowers and unique antiques. Every morning we stopped and grabbed something for breakfast and perused the other items for sale. I purchased all of my Nice souvenirs from here!

Rue Paradis// upscale shopping// stroll along this designer filled street for a taste of what it feels like to shop in Paris.

Promenade des Anglais // scenic stroll // it is one of the most famous seaside promenades on the Mediterranean. Lined with palm trees, beach cabanas, chic cafés and luxury hotels it is the Champs-Elysées of the whole Riviera.

Russian Orthodox Cathedral // gorgeous building // the St Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral, Nice is a Russian Orthodox cathedral located in the French city of Nice.

Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nice // art museum // art museum with Rodin and Sisley.
